Dr. Mata - the first Doctor and Dentist that actually took the time to listen to me about my symptoms I had and took a sincere interest in finding a solution to fix them and make me feel better. Changed my life for the better!

My history consists of sleep apnea (need to use a CPAP machine), severe teeth grinding, jaw pain and tension, and headaches. I saw a TMJ specialist in Lincoln Park (terrible Dr), he dismissed the fact that I had any problems. I seem to have been visiting individual Dr's for each individual issue I have. I have a sleep Dr. that prescribed my CPAP and my neurologist prescribed pain medicine for my headaches that never worked.

I met with Dr. Mata and she listened to my whole history, and said to me, what you need is an appliance that will fix all the problems I have without needing pain medicine and a CPAP machine. She really would like to have fixed my teeth, made them higher and more in line with how my mouth should be, however financially this was not possible, so the next best thing was to work with my teeth that I have.

Dr. Mata took the a bunch of time to research the right appliance for me to use that would benefit my problems, teeth grinding, sleep apnea, sleep insomnia, and jaw clenching. She went above and beyond calling companies that would confirm their product would work for her patient (me) and would actually benefit me in the long run. Dr. Mata found a company that would stand by their product and we went ahead with that appliance. Dr. Mata also recommended botox in my jaw muscles to alleviate the tightness due to my clenching and grinding. I said let's try it and see what happens. Oh my goodness, that night after my first injection, I had my best night sleep I could ever remember. I woke up feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, a feeling I do not ever recall having. Amazing how a small shot of botox goes a long way.

I want to thank Dr. Mata for taking the time to listen to me and help me get my health back in order, I don't have to use a CPAP any longer, and the botox has given me relief from my headaches. I am now able to enjoy time with my kids without feeling run down, sleepy or in pain.

Thank you Dr. Mata for your patience and assistance and for LISTENING to your patient, something many Doctors do not do. They don't look at the whole picture, however you did and noticed that all of my symptoms and problems are all inter-related. — Sam M.

An Amazing Dental Practice with People Who Really Care — Michael D.

I greatly enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the care Dr. Mata put into my exam, her passion for dentistry as well as the pursuit of perfection when it comes to everyone’s smile. One thing I would’ve liked would have been to have a regular surface cleaning as part of the periodontal exam; I left having scheduled a deep cleaning later this month but it would have been great to have at least a basic brush and floss to leave the office with. I’m sure this is just how the preliminary appointment works but I wanted to offer my feedback as openly as possible. Overall, an excellent visit and I will be back : )

Great Experience. I have never met with a Dentist that took the time to explain to me in such detail what was going on inside my mouth. My previous dentist told me I did not have any wisdom teeth, and that was clearly wrong. Dr. Mata showed me my wisdom tooth on x-ray as well went over my breathing problems- (I have had a deviated septum surgery & still have problems breathing). She is very knowledgeable, kind and wants me to have healthy gums! I’m excited for my next appointment.
