Molecular Iodine is the active form of iodine solution. Iodine is a very effective antimicrobial and has been touted by influential healthcare researchers as a "game changer" in oral health. Traditional drug store iodine solution has about 31,600 ppm (parts per million) but only about 3 ppm of the active ingredient, molecular iodine. Molecular iodine products have a much higher concentration of available iodine up to 600 ppm or 200 times the concentration of drug store iodine.
Currently, our practice is using this oral rinse for twenty seconds pre-treatment to reduce potential oral viral loads. Molecular Iodine rinses are said to be the most effective, least toxic side effect rinses available today. In addition, molecular iodine has been shown to reduce periodontal disease and cavities when used as part of a home care regimen.
