N2O, known to many as laughing gas, is the most commonly used and safest form of sedation in dentistry. It is administered by having the patient inhale the gas, which is carefully monitored by us. You will fall into a euphoric state and feel relaxed. It can be used by children and adults.
This sedation is very safe and effective. In fact, you, the patient are still in complete control. We can adjust the level up or down depending on your level of anxiety and comfort. Because it is a very soluble gas, once the procedure is over, it can be completely removed from your body by breathing 100% Oxygen for about 5-10 minutes. You should be able to drive yourself home and return to your daily activities.
To bolster our own self esteem, we may tell you our cheesy jokes while you're on the laughing gas. You laugh, we feel better about our jokes. It's a win-win.
