Restorative Procedures

Sometimes even the best laid plans fall apart. If you’re in need of a restorative procedure, we can help without the common discomfort of most dental offices.

Healthy teeth are critical to a healthy diet, a functional jaw, and a beautiful smile. Many patients must have decay removed from their teeth to preserve their healthy mouths. After your dentist removes dangerous decay from the tooth, you’ll need to seal the area with a dental filling.

You can expect an easy process when you need a filling at Wilder Dentistry. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, and to take advantage of our comfort menu.

The process:

  1. Decay is removed from the affected area.
  2. A composite material is placed in the cleaned area
  3. Dr. Wilder will polish and shape the filling to perfection.

Dental fillings will protect the tooth from decay, discomfort, and tooth loss. Fillings will ensure the structural integrity of the tooth. They can also restore the full and even appearance of the smile.

If you are experiencing severe tooth pain, you may need root canal therapy. At Wilder Dental, we perform successful root canal procedures with our patient’s comfort always in mind.

Some of the indications of a damaged tooth include:

  • Discomfort when biting down or chewing
  • Increased sensitivity to hot or cold foods
  • Frequent pains or aches in the teeth
  • Pimple-like bump on the gums

If any of the above symptoms look familiar to you, it’s important to schedule an exam with Dr. Wilder right away.

Crowns and bridges are used to restore and enhance teeth that are damaged, or to take the place of missing teeth. A crown, also referred to as a cap, is used to entirely cover a damaged tooth. A crown not only strengthens a tooth, but it can dramatically improve a tooth’s appearance, shape and alignment.

Crowns may be used to:

  • Replace a large filling when there is little tooth structure remaining
  • Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • Restore a fractured tooth
  • Attach a bridge
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Cover a discolored or poorly shaped tooth
  • Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment

A bridge is an ideal method to fill the space created by missing teeth. A bridge is one or more artificial teeth that are cemented into place using the teeth on either side for support, hence the name. This is an option for filling the space created by a missing tooth. A bridge replaces the missing tooth, both functionally and cosmetically. Bridge work is as much an art as it is an exact science. The materials used may be gold alloys, porcelain bonded to metal alloy, or all ceramic materials.

When you restore your smile with bridges, implants, or dentures, you:

  • Increase your oral health.
  • Reduce your risk for further tooth loss or jawbone pain.

Protect yourself from a shifting and changing smile that can lead to dysfunction or discomfort.

Full or partial tooth loss can increase the risk of nutritional deficiencies and whole body health diseases. Fortunately, you can restore your propensity to chew, speak, and smile with dentures.

Denture options include:

  • Immediate Dentures: These are usually just a temporary way to transition into full dentures. Immediate dentures can be placed right after your tooth extraction procedure, so you won’t have to go a day without a full set of beautiful teeth.
  • Conventional Full Dentures: After you give your gums some time to heal, we can create customized permanent dentures that will conform flawlessly to your mouth. We will carefully craft your new dentures to look natural and appealing. Dentures are held in place by a pink plastic base that forms a seal with the gums. After you become accustomed to your dentures, chewing and speaking will become easy again.
  • Implant Supported Dentures: Implant supported dentures are the most stable way to restore your full and complete smile. Two or more dental implants will be placed into the jawbone to anchor the dentures into your mouth. This option provides a great balance of comfort and aesthetics.
  • Partial Dentures: Partial dentures are usually made with a metal base that connects to healthy teeth on either side of a gap. Partial dentures may be the right choice for patients who still have strong teeth remaining in the mouth.

When a person feels like they can’t genuinely smile for fear of what others may think, it leaves a heavy burden of insecurity. Your smile is what people see first so it affects that coveted “first impression”. Dental Implants have helped recover smiles and self-esteem by not only creating healthier mouths but beautiful ones!
Dental implants are a permanent solution to the unfortunate circumstance of missing or unhealthy teeth.

The Importance of Dental Implants:

  • Protect Remaining Teeth: When a space is vacant in your mouth from losing a tooth, it causes bone loss. As you endure stress and oral pressures the remaining teeth can begin to shift into the hole where the tooth used to be. Therefore, your once healthy teeth can grow unstable and if more bone loss occurs you could lose even more teeth. This is where dental implants come in.
  • Properly Chew Food: The primary functionality of teeth is to help you chew up food. Dental implants allow you to chew and digest food properly. Since they are so similar to natural teeth, how you eat or what you eat doesn’t have to be altered.

Eliminate Health Issues: When your oral health diminishes it can ultimately affect the rest of your body. Dental implants not only keep your mouth healthy but also help prevent periodontal disease; an infection that affects the gums around the teeth. If this disease is given the chance to progress it can lead to some detrimental health issues including heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and more.
