What Is A Periodontist?

Dr. Joseph Cristoforo and Dr. Andrew Carmosino are periodontists, dentists who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease (gum disease) as well as the placement of dental implants. Periodontists are experts in the treatment of all types of periodontal disease, such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and gingival recession. It is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. It requires extensive training and three additional years of education beyond dental school.
