Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation (EBOO) is an integrated regenerative therapy designed to support systemic health through controlled blood oxygenation and ozonation. This process is intended to assist in reducing inflammatory burden, supporting blood purification processes, enhancing cellular function, and promoting immune system regulation. The EBOO protocol also incorporates Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVBI), a modality studied for its role in immune modulation, pathogen reduction, and mitigation of oxidative stress.
EBOO is utilized as a supportive therapy for a variety of clinical and wellness-focused applications, including inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, autoimmune-related dysfunction, chronic infections, mold-related illness, fatigue syndromes, and long COVID. It may also be used as an adjunctive support for oncology care and is increasingly sought for performance optimization, anti-aging strategies, and longevity-focused wellness programs. Patient candidacy is determined on an individual basis following clinical evaluation.
At APH, this therapy is overseen by our Medical Director, Bonnie Friehling, MD, and administered by our nursing team.
During treatment, a portion of the patient’s blood is circulated extracorporeally through a sterile system, where it is exposed to medical-grade oxygen/ozone and, when indicated, ultraviolet blood irradiation (UVBI), before being safely returned to the body. Patients are continuously monitored throughout the session by trained clinical staff. Treatment frequency and the total number of sessions vary based on the patient’s health status, therapeutic objectives, and clinical response. Protocols may range from a single session for general wellness support to a series of sessions performed weekly or biweekly for individuals with more complex or chronic conditions. Some patients may transition to periodic maintenance sessions following an initial treatment series.
