Byron Cotton, M.D.

Dr. Byron C. Cotton has provided medical care for children and families in Alabama and Georgia for over 30 years. He is a native of Headland, Alabama. Dr. Cotton obtained a bachelors of science from Bethune-Cookman in 1978 and earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in 1985. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan and received a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine from the University of Alabama; during which time he was awarded the CMFDP Postdoctoral Fellowship Award.

Dr. Cotton is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. He founded Kids & Teens Primary Healthcare in 2006 where he currently practices. He teaches residents from Atlanta Medical Center and Medical Students from Emory University. He is a member of professional organizations to include the American Academy of Pediatrics and Society of Adolescent Medicine.

Dr. Cotton has continued to dedicate himself to his patients and the community; to his merit he was recently recognized as one of “Atlanta’s Top Doctors” in Atlanta Magazine every year from 2009 thru 2017. He has held clinical appointments with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Egleston Health Care System. His area of expertise is pediatrics and adolescent medicine; nonetheless he has a long time professional interest in asthma and obesity.

In his spare time, Dr. Cotton enjoys cycling, hiking, and rock climbing among other activities. Dr. Cotton stresses the importance of the role of lifestyle, such as diet and physical activity, to his patients and caregivers. He strives to build community relationships to ensure access to quality pediatric medical care for local residents.


Alana Burns, MD

Alana Burns, MD

Dr. Alana Burns is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and joined our office in 2021. She has lived in Georgia for 25 years. She graduaged with her Bachelor's in Arts from Swarthmore College. She attended medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine and received her degree in 2018 and after graduation she completed her residency at Emory Univerisity School of Medicine. Dr. Burns enjoys caring for all ages, birth through late adolescence. In addition to routine health checks and sick visits, Dr. Burns has a special interest in lactatin, promoting healthy life styles, and teen health. In her free time she enjoys going for a walk in the park, arts and crafts and relaxing with family.


Tia Brooks, CPNP

Tia Brooks, CPNP

Gratia Brooks is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She has lived in Georgia consistently since 2012 and has lived in various states across the country through her early ages. Gratia graduated with a dual degree in Public Health Education and Biology from Kennesaw State University in 2017. She then went on to pursue her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Nursing from Emory University-Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in 2019 and 2021. Gratia has worked as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite for the last four years. In March of 2022, she became a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Partitioner specializing in primary care, and later joined our office in 2023.

Gratia takes pride in caring for and creating a healthy environment for the pediatric community from birth through adolescence. Gratia has a growing professional interest in mental health among adolescents, nutrition and physical activity, and desires to learn more. In her free time, she appreciates staying up to date with the new healthcare advances, traveling, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
