What kind of toothbrush is best?

We recommend always using a toothbrush with soft-bristles, although it may seem like hard bristles would clean better, they can actually damage your teeth. For those with mobility problems, we recommend investing in an electric toothbrush as this can make proper dental hygiene easier.

Where should I store my toothbrush?

When it comes to properly storing your toothbrush, we recommend always placing it in a dry, open-air environment. Cabinets, drawers, etc. can be moist, allowing bacteria to thrive. Make sure your toothbrush is also six feet from any toilets, as bacteria can be displaced when flushing.

Is it bad to share my toothbrush?

YES! Never share your toothbrush, not even with your significant other. The germs that live on your toothbrush can actually be transferred, potentially resulting in dental complications such as infections or even disease.

Do over-the-counter teeth whitening products work?

Yes and no, depending upon what you are looking for. Store-bought teeth whitening products are only designed to remove extrinsic (exterior) staining and discoloration, leaving interior stains, often resulting in less than desirable results. Professional teeth whitening however is designed to remove both exterior and interior staining in just one appointment!

How often should I visit the dentist?

For most patients with healthy smiles, we recommend scheduling professional dental care at least twice a year (every 6 months), however if you are prone to decay, infection or disease we may recommend more frequent visits.
