A Message from Dr. Maxson

We have always practiced universal precautions for blood borne pathogens with our cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization procedures and barriers.  Since the COVID 19 pandemic, it is recommended to make adjustments to better protect against airborne pathogens.  We practice a universal precaution for both blood borne and airborne pathogens.

What are we doing differently to protect our patients and ourselves?  Below is a list of new changes to improve our safety:

Our clinical team uses KN95 masks with a level 3 surgical mask over it and face shields depending on the procedure.  They also are wearing antimicrobial and water resistant scrubs that are laundered in our office daily.  We have a shower for our staff in the event an exposure requires it.  We have two new evacuation systems for treatment to reduce aerosols depending on the procedure.  We have all patients use a anti viral pre-rinse before we enter into the mouth.  We will have air purification units in the treatment rooms soon to filter allergens, deodorize, kill bacteria and viruses, and energize the air.  It will provide a surgically clean air and turn over the air several times an hour.  No one enters our office without being screened and temperatures taken--including our team.  We have barriers up at the reception/administration area.  Patients are waiting in their vehicles rather than our reception area right now to reduce the risk of prolonged exposure.  Finally, we are disinfecting each hour throughout the office where patients pass through, not only the treatment rooms.

We are doing our best to protect and provide for our patients at the highest level of excellence!

Fondly,

Maxson Dental
