  • Deirdre Wood, MD

    Dr. Deirdre Wood received her medical degree from  Hahnemann University/Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1996. She continued with an internship in International Medicine at both the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital and the Philadelphia Veteran's Administration. Afterward, she began a Dermatology Residency at Hahnemann. She completed four additional years of training including a specialty fellowship in cutaneous lymphomas. She was Chief Resident during her final year.

    She then joined the faculty at Drexel University as Assistant Clinical Professor where she taught residents and started the cosmetic dermatology program. In 2003, she began her private practice in Northeast Philadelphia where she continues to practice today. She has special interests in skin cancer and cosmetic dermatology but enjoys all aspects of her field, especially the patients!

    She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Philadelphia Dermatologic Society and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

    Outside of work, Dr. Wood enjoys spending time with her family and friends, riding horses and traveling. 

  • Jennifer LaRusso, DO

    Dr. Jennifer LaRusso, a native of New Jersey, graduated with her degree in medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).  After graduation she completed an internship and residency in Family Medicine at UMDNJ. 

    Realizing that her true passion in medicine was dermatology, Dr. LaRusso then completed a clinical pharmacology fellowship with Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia while concurrently performing translational research in dermatology under the world renowned physician and researcher, Jouni Uitto, M.D., Ph.D. 

    Dr. LaRusso’s research focus was on an inherited skin disease PXE (Psuedoxanthoma elasticum.)  After finishing the clinical pharmacology fellowship, Dr. LaRusso entered a dermatology residency at Thomas Jefferson where she continued her work.  She has published numerous articles and has received multiple accolades for her research in PXE, including the Johson-Beerman Award, the Everett C. Fox Residents & Fellows Award and the Stelwagon Prize.

    During her time spent in the laboratory, Dr. LaRusso decided to pursue a fellowship in Mohs surgery.  She trained under Dr. Roger Ceilley in West Des Moines, Iowa.  Dr. Ceilley, former president of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery, was a student of Frederic E. Mohs and is board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology.  Working with Dr. Ceilley, Dr. LaRusso received stellar training in both dermatopathology and reconstructive surgery.

    After completing her fellowship through the American College of Mohs Surgery in Iowa, Dr. LaRusso and her family returned to the east coast.  She has worked as a traveling Mohs surgeon for numerous dermatology offices in NJ, PA, and DE.  By traveling to different offices, Dr. LaRusso has acquired valuable insight and experience on how successful dermatology practices operate.

  • Sarah Bowers PA-C

    Sarah Bowers is a Board Certified Physician Assistant, specializing in dermatology.  Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, graduating with Distinction. She then continued her graduate education at Wingate University in North Carolina where she earned her Masters of Health Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies.  As a Board Certified and Licensed Physician Assistant, Sarah has had training in both pediatric and adult dermatology.  Sarah is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of a Dermatology Physician Assistants, and the Pennsylvania Dermatology Physician Assistants.  

    Sarah is an integral part of our dermatology team, which provides the best quality of care and latest treatments. She formulates treatment plans customized for each patient and also encourages a proactive approach to skin health.  Sarah offers appointments in all areas of general dermatology, including mole and skin cancer checks, acne, eczema, warts, psoriasis, rosacea, melasma as well as dermatologic procedures such as skin biopsies. 

    Sarah is also well trained in variety of cosmetic procedures including laser hair reduction, medical grade chemical peels and other laser and light based procedures. She maximizes the results of these procedures by utilizing skin care products to revitalize the overall health of your skin.

    Sarah is married and in her spare time she enjoys activities with her family, traveling, calligraphy, and photography.

  • Alexis Turbin, PA-C

    Physician Assistant, Alexis Turbin, graduated from  Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, and a Minor in Biology. She then continued her graduate education at Touro University Nevada where she earned her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. 

    Alexis is certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and she is licensed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.  Her professional affiliations include the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA).  Alexis is a member of the Pennsylvania Dermatology Physician Assistants (PDPA).

    Alexis takes particular pride in the treatment of acne since the condition significantly impacts patient’s self-confidence and self-esteem. She knows patients often feel their best when they look their best. Outside of work, Alexis enjoys traveling home to Florida to spend time with her family.  She also enjoys performing in musical theater, cooking, trying new workout classes, and watching football (GO EAGLES & Seminoles!!!)
