A Word On Dental Insurance

DENTAL INSURANCE plays an important role in helping people obtain dental treatment. We strongly feel our patients deserve the very best possible care we can provide. Therefore, in an effort to provide a very high quality of care, we would like to share the following with you:

a. Your dental insurance is not meant to pay 100% of your treatment. We truly wish it did pay all! In reality, it is only a helping aid to reduce your out-of-pocket cost.

b. Many dental "plans" and employers tell their "insured" that they cover up to 80% or even 100%. Based on our many years of practice experience with them, we know in reality they only pay about 40-60% of an average fee.

On top of that, there is a "deductible" of $25 to $100 every year per family which the patient must pay up front. They also have a yearly maximum benefit per person ranging from $500 to $1500 regardless of amount treated. These amounts are determined by how much premium your employer paid the insurance carrier. REGARDLESS OF YOUR NEED, THE LESS THEY PAY, THE LESS BENEFITS YOU GET.

c. Insurance carriers, dental plans, and employers usually tell their insured, "your dentist's fee are above the usual fees in the community" INSTEAD of them frankly saying that "our benefits are too low". Remember, you get back only what your employer puts in the insurance funds, minus the profits of the insurance company.

Lastly, please know that we do not do dental work on the assumption that the insurance companies will pay our fees. We expect patients to pay their fair share of the cost of treatment. WE DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE AS PAYMENT IN FULL because we know that only cover a minimum percentage of our fees. However, we are willing to work with you the best way possible so you can have the high quality of dentistry you truly deserved.
