Dental Exam

We conduct a comprehensive dental examination for patients we see in our offices for the first time and a follow-up examinations for patients coming for periodic maintenance.

These consist of complete intra and extra oral examinations to discover things that are out of the ordinary. We take x-rays as needed to detect among others, decay, tumors, cysts, bone loss and tooth position.

We also do cancer screening as a routine, checking your face, neck, lips, tongue, surrounding oral tissues and gums for any sign of abnormalities.

We do a complete gingival evaluation to check for signs of periodontal disease and check on all the teeth for decays and anomalies as well as the status of existing restorations.

In most cases, when doing exams, we utilize a state of the art intra-oral camera to help enhance the procedure.

Professional Dental Cleaning

Professional dental cleanings are usually performed by our licensed registered dental hygienist (RDH) and includes an exam, removal of plaque and calculus using specialized ultrasonic scalers, hand instrumentation and tooth polishing.

Following the professional dental cleaning, the RDH will create a specific dental hygiene regimen for our patients to maintain good oral health, preserved what we have previously treated and prevent any recurrence and progression of dental issues.

This regimen includes periodic regular examinations, dental prophylaxis (cleaning) and preventive x-rays based on the need of each individual patient and not in the old adage of “check-up every six months”.

A specific regimen for prevention is the best way to continually keep a healthy mouth.
